Tonight I drowned myself in thoughts on things I don't like about myself and what I'd like to improve on. Don't get me wrong, I love the person I am as a whole and wouldn't want to be anyone else but like most people, there are parts of me that I don't enjoy so much. I strive constantly to try and change these bitter qualities I have. These thoughts brought up questions.
Should one not fight to change traits he/she dislikes about his/herself because it's what makes them who they are and they should accept said traits?
or
Should one fight to change traits he/she dislikes about his/herself because trying to change oneself for the better is also a part of who they are?
Regardless, I'm going to keep trying to fight against my natural habits that I am not satisfied with. I had a few successful moments today (Take that, driving anxiety!), but also some failures (Damn shyness... gets me every time.).
By the way: I went to see a performance today by two very attractive ladies with very attractive talents. They are worth a listen... or two... or three.

Oh yeah, and fuck the immigration law!
And hell yes to the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law moving closer to being repealed.
oh coshy cosh cosh - i've always liked the subject of "change". the big reason is because i have a very strong opinion and belief regarding the subject.
ReplyDeletetrying to keep it short, i firmly believe humans are evolving beings...all physically, mentally and emotionally. like art, once we are satisfied, we are "dead". with that being said, we MUST always evolve and never stay stagnant. think of who you were 5 years ago to now. vast differences, i'm sure. and 3-5 years from now, you will, still, evolve in some way.
granted, our core doesn't shift much, but our perspectives & ways of handling things do evolve.
rather than tell you "cosh, i hope you never change" i'd rather tell you, "cosh, i hope you always change."

Thanks, Tdo. I do believe change is a brilliant thing. You're very right, we would be "dead". If change were to not exist, life would not move. Every living moment is a change. We thrive for it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your thoughts, T.
I always appreciate feedback.
i am all up for self improvment!
ReplyDeletei think that one does evolve and its definately for the better, cause everyone should and needs to learn from mistakes and its not like you get rid of parts of yourself cause i think the change is gradual so, those parts do start becoming you more, you know!?
like looking back like 5 years ago, everyone has definately changed and even though without thinking so deeply, we have selected certain traits to keep hold of.
But yeah there is always something brave about purposely facing things, i have always been shy too, but i like to think that i am getting better in that department and i also have driving anxiety...thats why i need to learn to face it!
But, no one is perfect, even when we are like super old, there are still gonna be parts of myself that i am gonna wanna change, just important to basically do yourself proud.
love you babe
